30 Day Writing Meme - Day 8

8. What's your favorite genre to write? To read?

Favorite genre to write huh? All this time i've been writing fantasies. I guess that's something i'm good at, since you can make your own world. The thing is, if i use this universe (which means the earth), i won't talk about my hometown. I will definitely write about some other places in USA, but the thing is, i've never been to USA.

Therefore, i don't know how people in certain cities travel, where do they eat, what time does the bus came and so on. When i write, i want everything to be exactly the same as the reality. I mean, i want to get all the facts right. That's why i prefer to make my own world.

I really want to make a psychology thriller. That's my dream. I've tried making a few, but it's not very mind-thrilling. I want to make this thriller that will blow your mind away, like Black Swan. That's one heck of a story that i would like to write some day (applause for the screen-writer).

I didn't write about love. I didn't really like romance, and when i do write about it, it's more about lust than about love. I can't describe love since i don't really understand it. Love for me is obsession, and that's how i describe it. But still, i didn't write my own romance. I wrote it as another part of my fantasy world.

That's all the genres that i like to write. Then, about genres that i like to read, i love fantasy as well. I'm into gore as well, so that's why i love the Gone series by Michael Grant. Really into it. Then i like the concept of PJATO, but the plot becomes too common as the story grows. Then of course, mystery, like Dan Brown. I'm a huge fan of Dan Brown. I really love his works especially Angels and Demons and Digital Fortress. Dan Brown has really influenced me.

Still, if i want to recommend any story to my friends, i will say Gone. That's story is really great. You've got gore, adventure, fantasy, love and everything that a person like me would like.

30 Day Writing Meme - Day 7

I should have posted this yesterday.

7. Do you listen to music while you write? What kind? Are there any songs you like to relate/apply to your characters?

This is one of the questions that my friend, Rere is very excited about. Well, i listen to music while i write. Usually it random, but i do have some songs that really apply to some of my character or some special scenes.

For those dirty scenes (blamed my dirty mind) i listen to Pitbull's Give Me Everything. I really like the sentence, 'we might not get tomorrow'. The song is really a major turn on for special scenes (is it legal for me to say that?) This apply to Nfic for Nate and Al. This song really really help me getting through it. #plak

Then for What If. It's so Never Say Never by The Fray. The part where they sing 'Don't let me go' over and over, it really drives me crazy. Then the melody and the harmony, it really fits Reagen's feeling in What If (my feeling to be exact).

Then we move on to A. I really like Bring Me to Life. I can picture the sound of waves crashing at the intro. Then there's flashes of picture of the scenes. The island at night, rolling down the hill, walking down the street, pain, jumping, fangs, the battle, and some flashes of Reagen's idiotic smile that seems to be out of place. Really love the , 'Bit my blood to run'.

Then at the middle of the song, another flashes of picture starts to come out. Swimming, drowning, mermaids, flying, drowning again, falling, thrown around like a pinball, more smiling face, tears, crying, more pain, zoom in at someone's eye, hair flipping around, drifts by the wind. Things like that start popping in my head. Those are scenes that i pictured.

Besides Bring Me To Life, there's Mutemath's Blood Pressure and Odd Soul. Well, Blood Pressure is actually the one that really fits into A, but i love Odd Sould as well. I can picture the 'time-goes-by' scenes with Blood Pressure. The training, more smile, wicked smile, laughter, blood, more training, jumping, falling, helicopter's ride, eating sandwich.. It becomes more and more random.

For the sad scenes, i've been thinking about Evanescence's My Immortal, but i'm still not quiet sure about it. Oh, and i've been thinking about adding some dubstep. Maybe Flux Pavilion's I Can't Stop? Not sure yet.
I guess that is it. I think there's more, but i've forgot it. I'll ad another one later when i've remembered it.

30 Day Writing Meme - Day 6

6. Where are you most comfortable writing? At what time of day? Computer or good ol' pen and paper?

That's something i'm dealing with. You see, i always brought my laptop everywhere, and when random ideas started to flow into my mind, i simply turned on my laptop and started to type it. My grandmother even scolded me for writing on family vacation instead of playing with my cousins. But it's just me. Random ideas popped out at random time, and if you didn't write them right at that moment, the feeling would wear off.

I even wrote during classes. I used a netbook, so it was pretty small for me to hide underneath my table. Since i sat at the back, the teacher didn't really pay any attention to me. So, i could type in peace. I could type without looking at the keyboard as well, so i could still pretend that i was listening to the lesson.

The ideas came best at math, where my mind was elsewhere. But, mostly, the best time to write is in my room, right in the middle of the night. I didn't know why, but that was the perfect time for me, with music and a glass of milk.

Sometimes when i didn't have my netbook with me, i had this notebook that was filled with my ideas and random scenes. Still, typing was far better for me.

My dream is to have some kind of tablet that is compatible to word and it has to be small and light enough for me to be carried around. With it, i can type whenever and wherever i want.

30 Day Writing Meme - Day 5

5. By age, who is your youngest character? Oldest? How about “youngest” and “oldest” in terms of when you created them?

I think, my youngest and oldest character by age would be Ra. I mean, he's 500 years old for god's sake and he could still be a baby. Talking about this particular character will later on spoiled my story. I'm fine with talking about his personality and traits, but not about how he's so old and so young at the same time. (rere, if you wish you can continue this explanation.)

About the youngest and oldest that i've created, i think i've talked about the oldest which would be the first character that i've made, which again would be Vanessa that i've talked about yesterday.

About the youngest, i remember i just made this cameo named Dene Oliver which i called Oliver recently. I took his name from Oliver Dene Jones, the famous dubstep producer that goes with the name Skream.
I think i couldn't talk much about this question.

30 Day Writing Meme - Day 4

In the middle of exams, but i'll always have time to spend for things like this. So, here it is.

4. Tell us about one of your first stories/characters!

I already told you about my first story which is Skye. That one is kinda lame, but it is truly the first story that i've ever written. I already talked about it in the first day which is here

As for my first character, i've made this girl named Vanessa. I think i should have talked about her a bit.

I forgot how i came up with that name, but i loved it. Vanessa is a strong girl, but weak at the same time. She's smart and quiet, only play with certain people and that certain people is just this one person that i don't really want to talk about here because i'll end up talking about other characters as well. Again, she dwells in feelings and minds. She thinks about feeling and she thinks about decisions and minds, just like i did.

Let's just say, she is the quiet aspect of me, because i do have the same habit as her in the 6th grade, where i like to sit alone at the far end of the hallway near the dark staircase to study and just be alone.
..
Well, that's my first story and my first character. You should really check out my friend Rere . Her first story is about this giant mutant cat. I don't really remember, but it's concerning a girl who got this magic ring from china who supposed to be ship to Mexico in a plane but due to the plane crash somewhere in America, the girl found it lying on a beach (Ok, i am already confused now).

Then the girl wears it and she turns into this giant mutant cat and thrashes the whole city. I forgot about the ending. I guess she died. Anyway, you should really check on her if she already post the 4th day.

30 Day Writing Meme - Day 3

Here it is, day 3. Click here for further information.
..
3. How do you come up with names, for characters (and for places if you're writing about fictional places)?

For names, i have this book which contains lots of names for newborn babies. So, i'll just randomly open it, and if i like it, i'll use it. Sometimes i choose the first letter for her/his name first.

Sometimes i'll just use the first name that pop into my head. I also use the name of people that i like. Like example, i like Skream, so i use the name Dene Oliver. Too obvious huh?

At different time, i googled the name. Like sometimes, i need a Russian name, so i googled it, and believe me, when i make a name, i follow its rule. Like in russia, their middle name has to be their father's name followed by and -evich or -evna for girls. I like it when i made a complicated name, but it's still understandable and i made it according to the rules.

I've made my own names as well, and sometimes it turns out pretty weird that i don't even know how to say it. Still, i really love name that started from the letter V and R.

For places, i just use my own head and imagine it. I usually applies what i've seen once and simply make it bigger and add more details.

30 Day Writing Meme - Day 2

Part of my 30 day writing meme challenge that i'm doing with my friend, Rere
Click here for further information of the questions.
..
2. How many characters do you have? Do you prefer males or females?

I've made tons of characters from males to females, and when i'm making things such as characters, i'm making them as realistic as i can. I don't really like those kind of people who just made this simple drawing, writing all the things that this particular character likes and doesn't like.

For me, writing a character is more like making a person with real characteristic. You don't think about what they hate and what they like. You think about what decision they will make in certain conditions. You think about how they walk, how they talk, how they think and how they judge people. You think about their visions, their dreams and their hopes.

I didn't take this lightly. This is something serious. The joy of making a character is when you can see him/her grew up as time goes by. You can see them actually grow into adulthood.

You feel happy. In fact, it's more than happy. You feel some sort of connection with your character. That is something unique. The relationship that you have, the relationship that you've created and how you feel your feeling with him/her merge. You understand his/her mind, even though you know you're not that person, but you understand him/her. You know him/her better than anyone.

You can make a person. You can name him/her. That's the unreplaceable feeling. You feel literally like a god. You control his/her destiny. You can do anything that you want with him/her.
..
Okay, i'm way into philosophy now. The thing is, i've made many characters. Those characters resemble my feelings. They are me. They are a part of me and they resemble each and every emotion that i have. I'm not saying that we're the same person either, but they are a part of me, and i am a part of them, though we're never the same person.

It's too complicated, but i think it's something that only author can comprehend.

I usually made a tough character for my females. In each of my story, there'll always be this particular character that dwells on feeling and mind a lot, someone who think about something deeper than anybody else. Maybe that's because i'm an introvert. I think about emotions, i think about feelings, and that is exactly what my character does.

I've made characters with different nationality and traits. The joker, the grumpy one, the quiet one, the tomboy, the bully and all sorts of characters.

But still, i can't make them as realistic as they can be. Sometimes i'm missing chunks of things that made them human. But then again, they're not human to begin with.

I always said that my characters are my mind. They are my thoughts, trying to break free from my brain, trying to be real, trying to gain its place in this universe as a living being, free to roam this earth and interact with other people, pretending that they're just like everybody else, a simple, living, breathing human.

30 Day Writing Meme - Day 1

Introduction!!!

Here i am, doing a challenge with my friend. A 30 day writing meme. We're going to write about this particular meme, one meme per day. click here for the questions and further information.

So, just be ready to hear my rambling about my character and all of the imaginary world that i have yet to share with this universe, all the imaginary world that has been going in my mind for the last couple of years.
(this should have been titled 'shit author says' but i think that's unappropriate)
..
1. Tell us about your favorite writing project/universe that you've worked with and why.

There's tons of projects that i've made, but all of that origin from two simple projects. So here it goes.

Skye

Skye is an old project. Really old. I've made it when i'm still in 6th grade and let me tell you, it's shit. Well, the plot is pretty good, but then again, i've made it when i was in the 6th grade. I remember how i used to write it manually. I've made my characters and made shitty plot, but then again it grew to be something that i love.

As the project goes on, i realize one thing. Skye has something my other project doesn't have, which is a clear plot. With Skye, i know how it's going to end, how many books it'll be and what will happen to the character. You only need to add the detail.

Later on i realize that i still loves Skye, even though i've thrown it out. I realize how i still imagine myself continuing that project, seeing the plot grows and how it will end. The thing is, i write this as a 6th grader with a 6th grader language. It's childish, and sometimes the plot turns to be childish as well.

Skye is about a magical universe where magic is possible. It's your everyday story where there's this girl who develop superpower. Very very usual, doesn't it? But as the story progress, there's a psycho and double-personality disorder involved, with gore and losing your arm and eyesight. Oh, and cloning too.

I currently drop this project due to my acknowledgement of how childish this story was with its childish language.

A

My second project and the one that i'm currently making is A. I haven't even found a title for it, so i called it A, because that's the first letter in the alphabet.

This particular story is a fulfillment of my long desired lust. This intertwined with my deepest darkest secret which is something that i never have a courage to show to other people.

Again this is a story about a particular random teenager who realized that there's something mroe in this world than just human being. Yes, he figures out that Jacob Black exist, but that's not the main story. The main story is about this island with its inhabitant that develop a special ability to...

I can't talk any further for this matter will bring us to a word that i do not dare to speak.

This is going so random. So, in short..

This story is not finished. I haven't even finished the plot, but it's growing and growing. The main story isn't finished yet, but i have even made the story about what would happen after the story is finish and before the story has even started. Weird, eh?

Maybe, it's like, you haven't even finished making the whole batman story, but you've already made the batman returns and those batman and robin, batman and catwoman and all those stories that supposed to come later.

Oh, and the funny thing about this A, is that i'm far more interested with a side-character than the main one. like, you've fallen for the robin instead of batman.

The plot for A grows and grows. I've made the story before A that's titled R's Diary from that particular character's point of view that i've named Reagen. Then i've made a story about things that happen after A is finish which i titled Nakht (that's egyptian). Then i've made stories about what will happen after Nakht which i titled Nfic, followed by Nfic 2 and M. I even made the story of an alternate reality, a story about something that maybe happen if something hasn't happened which is What If.

See? I've made too many stories. I haven't even finished the main one. Oh, i forgot about one thing. I've made A and R's Diary with my mother language, Indonesia. But then i've made the rest of the stories in English to shape up my english. It turns out to be a major grammar wreck. I'm such a fool, am i no? #awkwardlaugh
..
There is one last secret project that i've made with my friend. Let's called it Vinegar, shall we? It's a secret project, but that one has a real plot and i guess that one really is a masterpiece. But then again, it's secret right? So i shouldn't talk about it.
..
My friend is making the exact same thing like me. Why don't you take a look at her projects? Hers are better than mine and more creative. Her blog : Bottling Petrichor
